Painters & Dockers

painters&dockersThis eccentric Australian band was named after the militant Painters & Dockers Union.

One of their early gigs was in a Melbourne pub frequented by waterside workers and since the band did not yet have a name, Painters And Dockers was chosen for the occasion. The name stuck.

The title and subject of their 1987 Top 30 single Nude School were inspired by a true story of a teacher in the US who established a school where all the students had to take their lessons in the raw.
