Canadian-born Rick Jones began his TV career in Britain as part of the Play School team before starring as “Yoffy” in Fingerbobs, presenting stories featuring paper finger-puppet characters including Fingermouse and Gulliver the seagull.
Jones was a keen musician and performed as the singer, keyboard player and songwriter for the British country-rock band Meal Ticket.
He also wrote and performed the English theme for the French TV series The Aeronauts.
Jones had been suffering from oesophagal cancer, which eventually metastasised and claimed his life. He was 84.
