Get Some In! star Tony Selby has died aged 83. His management, LCM Limited, shared a statement on Twitter announcing he had died in London on Sunday (5th September).

It read: “With great sadness, we announce that actor Tony Selby passed away peacefully in London yesterday. In a career spanning 70 years in theatre, film and TV, Tony was highly respected and loved by family, friends and colleagues. His renowned sense of humour will be missed by us all.”

Selby was noted for playing Corporal Percy Marsh in the RAF National Service comedy Get Some In! from 1975 to 1978. Set in the 1950s, Corporal Marsh introduced himself to his new conscripts thusly; “My name’s Marsh. That’s B-A-S-T-A-R-D . . . Marsh!”

His TV work also included The Informer (1967); Shine A Light (1970); Ace of Wands (1970 – 1971); Moody and Pegg (1974 – 1975); Jack of Diamonds (1983); Doctor Who (1986 – 1987) as the character Glitz; Mulberry (1992 – 1993); Love Hurts (1994) and The Detectives (1995 – 1997) in which he played Sgt. ‘Nozzer’ Richardson. He also appeared in EastEnders as Uncle Clive for a series of episodes in 2002.

He is survived by his second wife Gina Sellers, who he married in 1986.
