Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr broke the news on Twitter and led tributes, saying Sir George “will be missed”.

Sir George produced The Beatles and also worked with artists including Gerry and the Pacemakers, Dame Shirley Bassey, Cilla Black and The Goons.
