Cheech (Cheech Marin) and Chong (Tommy Chong) live in a decrepit old house and drive their neighbour crazy with their loud music, weed smoking and general anarchy and slacker view on life.
Then Chong meets Cheech’s Texan cousin Red (also played by Cheech Marin) and things kick up a notch.
The duo’s follow-up to Up in Smoke (1978) has even less of a plot but there’s still plenty of pot humour, plus Evelyn Guerrero, “Mousie” Gardner, Michael Winslow, Bob and Edie McClurg, Missy Cleveland, Rikki Marin and future Saturday Night Live regular Phil Hartman.
Watch out for Paul Reubens in his first movie appearance as Pee-Wee Herman.
Four more Cheech and Chong movies followed before the duo’s big-screen run spluttered out in 1984.
