In the small Nebraska town of Gatlin, children have slaughtered the adults and set up a sinister religious cult.
A young physician named Burt (Peter Horton) and his girlfriend, Vicky (Linda Hamilton), stumble into this terrifying community and encounter a variety of supernatural episodes. John Franklin is the lead weird/scary kid, Isaac, who – we learn – gets his orders from a supernatural force known only as “He Who Walks Behind The Rows” (the rows being corn, of which this movie has plenty).
Burt and Vicky spend the rest of the film narrowly avoiding misused farm tools.
Based on Stephen King’s short story, the film is trite, poorly acted and filled with mumbo-jumbo dialogue. The thin, preposterous material generally unfolds very slowly.
