In this sequel to the top 1976 box office shocker The Omen, Damien (Jonathan Scott-Taylor) – the Antichrist predicted in the Book of Revelations, sired by a jackal and destined to plunge the world into darkness and chaos when Satan decrees it – is now thirteen years old and has no memory of his past misdeeds.
He is living with his Uncle Richard (William Holden) – a corporate giant whose empire the young Antichrist stands to inherit – and his Aunt Ann (Lee Grant) and cousin, Mark (Lucas Donat) in a wealthy suburb of Chicago.
Damien is sent to military school where strange things begin to happen around him, and he is as mystified by them as everyone else. Meanwhile, dark forces begin to eliminate all those who suspect the child’s true identity.
The Devil’s son finally learns of his destiny under the guidance of an unholy disciple of Satan.
Although clues for it are planted throughout the film, the surprise snap ending is very effective.
Don Taylor replaced director Mike Hodges as a result of creative differences. However, the few scenes Hodges directed were kept.
