Davy Morgan (Harry Secombe) is the most important (and most talented) member of a third-rate family knockabout music-hall comedy act called The Mad Morgans who tour the British variety halls. The other members depend on Davy completely.
Possessed of a superb tenor voice, Davy finally receives an invitation to try out for a Covent Garden Opera, but he doesn’t want to break up the act and sacrifices his own ambition.
It’s a silly, simple film from Ealing which was meant as a star vehicle for Secombe, and while he certainly single-handedly saves the film from tedium, it was not a box office success.
