Named after the actual outback town in Australia where the story takes place, Dimboola revolves around British reporter Vivian Worcester-Jones (Max Gillies) who gets more than he bargained for when sent by The Times to write an article on small-town life.
His visit coincides with a couple of young locals – Maureen (Natalie Bate) and Morrie (Bruce Spence) – getting married and between a hen’s night (that he manages to attend by dressing in drag), a buck’s party in a shearing shed (where the groom gets it on with a stripper) and the wedding itself, the reporter much to write about as nothing goes smoothly or to plan.
Much alcohol is consumed, unleashing a little anarchy, and in the end, the loose ends are tied up and Dimboola goes the way of all farces, ending on a happy note.
