Wheelchair-bound paraplegic Robbie (George Mallaby) and Mark (John Waters) – home from the Merchant Navy – are dysfunctional stepbrothers whose relationship is further strained by the fact that they are both suspected of murdering pretty blonde hitchhikers.
The investigation is headed by the inquisitive Superintendent Cheadle (Ken Goodlet), accompanied by his stick of a sergeant (played by the impressively deadpan Robert Hewett).
Delvene Delaney costars as the latest victim, Janine, and Belinda Giblin is Margaret, a cousin of the two brothers.
The pace of this Australian production is slow and ponderous, and the acting is poor.
On the bright side, it’s only 80-minutes long. Oh, and there’s the gorgeous Delvene Delaney – although she’s dead for 90% of the film.
End Play was shot in Kyneton, Victoria, and was based on a novel by Russell L Braddon.
