A team of five astronauts from earth – commanded by Luther Blair (American actor Anthony Dexter) – land on the 13th moon of Saturn to investigate as they believe conditions there are similar to those on earth.
There they discover sixteen beautiful young virgin “fire maidens” and a senile old man named Prasus (Owen Berry).
Apparently, the girls are the descendants of the last survivors from the lost continent of Atlantis (no, seriously!)
The earthmen find themselves prisoners. They are to remain as mates for some of the fire maidens so that the race shall not die out.
Princess Hestia (Susan Shaw) sets her sights on Luther while the leading dancer Duessa (Jacqueline Curtis) expresses her desire for the chaste married man Captain Larson (Paul Carpenter).
Elsewhere on the moon is a seemingly indestructible neanderthal “creature” (a guy in a mask, a black turtle neck and skinny black pants). Exactly what he is, why he is there or where he comes from are never discussed.
The film is chock full of product placement, with frequent references to the airline TWA, Longines watches, Coca Cola and Chesterfield cigarettes!
Originally released on a double-bill with Superman Flies Again, this ultra-low-budget British production was released in the US as Fire Maidens of Outer Space (rather than “from”), regularly turning up on American television as a midnight offering.
