A true-crime movie about oily Spanish gigolo Ray Fernandez (Tony Lo Bianco) and his enormous American nurse sidekick Martha Beck (Shirley Stoler), who prey on lonely women – romancing them and spiriting away their savings before eventually murdering them in a variety of terrible ways.
The real-life Fernandez and Beck are believed to have killed as many as 20 women during their murderous spree in America between 1947 and 1949. They were both executed by electric chair at Sing Sing on 8 March 1951.
This independent black and white picture takes an unswerving look at pure evil. Badness and ugliness are at the core of the film – ugly people, cheap sets, bad sound, clunky actions, and a murky narrational point of view.
