This documentary follows Madonna on her 1990 ‘Blond Ambition’ concert tour beginning in Makuhari, Japan and ending in Nice, France.
Filmed in grainy black and white, with the concert pieces in glittering colour, it offers an intimate look at the performer’s work, from a prayer circle with the dancers before each performance to bed games with the dance troupe – mostly gay men – afterwards.
Three of Madonna’s dancers sued her after the movie was released, feeling hurt, betrayed, and deceived.
The lawsuit – which was ultimately settled out of court (in short: they received a payout) – centred particularly on a game of ‘Truth or Dare’ in which two of the men were required to French-kiss.
During the game, Madonna also demonstrates how she performs oral sex on a man, using a mineral water bottle as a prop.
The fact that she doesn’t actually enjoy fellatio also comes up in conversation.
Released in the US as Madonna: Truth or Dare.
