Tommy Steele stars as Billy Bowles, a talent-spotter at the KLO record company whose unscrupulous boss, Max Catlin (Michael Medwin) sees that his talent-spotting abilities go unnoticed.
Meanwhile, Billy’s secretary Julie Singleton (Angela Douglas) suspects that his mysterious Sunday outings indicate an undisclosed marriage. Julie’s rich father hires a lugubrious detective named Parsons (Bernard Bresslaw) to investigate Billy’s secret life.
It turns out that Billy is trying to save the orphanage where he was raised from closing by organising a concert featuring all the most up-to-date singers and bands.
Watch out for a cameo from Shane Fenton, who would go on to glam pop-star fame in the 1970s as Alvin Stardust.
Released in some markets as The Dream Maker.
