This low-budget British B-movie thriller has ex-mental patient Jeff Martin (Griffith Jones) – who is insanely jealous of his rich young wife, Kay (Maureen Connell) – picking up two escaped convicts – American William Connors (Marc Lawrence) and Swedish Lars Svenson (George Mikell) – and enlisting their aid to murder his wife, promising them £1,000 and help to flee the country.
It’s a gripping and brutal film. Kay is beaten brutally by Connors, who then proceeds to beat and kill the au pair when she does not give in to his advances and realises too late who she has been flirting with.
There’s more suspense when Jeff finds he has insufficient funds in the bank to withdraw the money to pay the killers, so sells his car (a big American convertible) to raise the money. But Connors is not happy with a cheque . . .
