Three Men in a Boat (1956)

Three London bachelors – Harris (Jimmy Edwards), J (David Tomlinson), and George (Laurence Harvey) – decide to take a holiday boating up the Thames to Oxford.

Battling against Hampton Court maze, tents, locks, a cricket match, the rain and the Henley Regatta the accident-prone threesome have one success – they meet Sophie (Shirley Eaton), Primrose (Lisa Gastoni) and Bluebell (Jill Ireland).

The film is essentially a series of set pieces, and it’s very heavy on the slapstick (which hasn’t aged well).

Apparently, the book on which it was based (by someone called Jerome K Jerome) was quite good.
