Sceptical college professor Norman Taylor (Peter Wyngarde) discovers that his wife, Tansy (Janet Blair) has been practising magic for years.
A learned, rational fellow, he forces her to destroy all her magical charms and protective devices, and stop all that foolishness.
Tansy insists that her magic has contributed to his career success and is protecting them from his professional rivals who wish him harm, but he is unconvinced.
After he burns all her mumbo-jumbo, his life begins falling apart as he is accused of raping a female student at the college, and his wife suffers a nervous breakdown.
Eventually, Norman is forced to re-evaluate his opinion on the black arts when he realises that all the misfortune is the work of an enemy masquerading as a close friend.
Well-constructed and genuinely menacing, the film was released in some markets as Burn, Witch, Burn.
