    Rage (1966)

Reuben (Glenn Ford) is the resident medico at a construction site in the wilds of Mexico.

One day he’s bitten by his pet dog which turns out to have rabies, so Reuben has two days in which to get to a proper hospital and have the serum pumped into him before he starts foaming at the mouth.

Instead of rushing, he tends to a pregnant woman who goes into labour (he’s haunted by the death of his wife and child) . . . then his jeep breaks down . . . then Stella Stevens, as Perla, a tart with a heart, takes a shower in the nude, delaying things still further.

You always look closely at Ford’s fraught face to see if he’s growing any fangs in this race against the schlock.
