Killdozer is a ‘made for TV’ science-fiction horror film, adapted from a 1944 novella of the same name by Theodore Sturgeon.
A meteorite hurtles through space before landing on a remote island off the coast of Africa. The meteor has a strange blue glow.
Flash forward to a long time later and a small group of construction workers are on the island to clear the way for an airstrip. They stumble across the meteorite and not only does its blue-hued radiation kill one of the men it also seems to possess a huge bulldozer.
This now apparently sentient bulldozer spends the rest of the film trying to kill the cast. And that, dear reader, is the entire plot of Killdozer right there!
This film later gained renewed interest and ultimately cult status when it was the subject of jokes on both Beavis and Butt-Head (1993) and The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (2009).
The maximum forward speed of a Caterpillar D9 bulldozer is 7.3 mph. The average adult male can jog at 8.3 mph.
