Take Me High (1974)

High flying young merchant banker Tim Matthews (Cliff Richard) is excited to hear he’s going to New York but is sent to Birmingham instead to pressure a small struggling restaurant.

In the process, he buys himself a narrowboat and falls in love with the delightful owner, Sarah (Deborah Watling) and co-founds a glamorous new burger bar selling “Brumburgers”.

He also gets a chance to bring peace between capitalist Sir Harry Cunningham (Hugh Griffith) and left-wing politician Bert Jackson (George Cole).

Based around the Gas Street basin and local canals, Take Me High offers a fascinating historical insight into this very special area of Birmingham in the early 70s. And some terrific songs from Cliff in his final starring film role.
