Six young yuppies – Jeff (Mark Erickson), Rob (Mark Lindsay Chapman), Lynn (Fiona Hutchison), Paul (Stephen Shellen), Terri (Caroline Barclay) and Cynthia (Sarah Torgov) – fly off in a private plane on a weekend getaway but encounter engine trouble and are forced to land on a remote Pacific Northwestern island.
They are all typical slasher movie jerks who deserve to die – with the exception of Cynthia who has spent time in an asylum after her baby drowned while she answered a phone.
The six discover an eccentric hermit family headed up by the strict “Pa” (Rod Steiger) and the equally stern “Ma” (Yvonne De Carlo, Lily from The Munsters).
The family includes three middle-aged “children” – Fanny (Janet Wright), Woody (Michael J. Pollard) and Teddy (William Hootkins) – who kill people and store bodies in the basement. The daughter has a mummified baby and Pa whips Teddy “in the name of God” after he has sex with one of the dead female visitors (offscreen, of course).
This British/Canadian co-production is worth watching if you like your horror movies cheap and cheesy.
