    Hidden, The (1987)

This movie from Jack Sholder, the director of Alone In The Dark and A Nightmare On Elm Street (Part 2), begins with an action sequence in which a guy commits murder, steals a fast sports car and wipes himself out, Vanishing Point-style after a wild car chase through the busy streets of LA.

It transpires that there’s an alien creature on the loose which enters and inhabits people’s bodies and then indulges its love of fast motors and very loud rock music.

Hot on the alien’s trail is strange FBI agent Lloyd Gallagher (Kyle MacLachlan in a dry run for his Twin Peaks persona) who is actually an intergalactic cop after the nasty, tentacled slug creature that killed his family.

He’s partnered with tough homicide cop Tom Beck (Michael Nouri), and the action scenes come thick and fast as they throw everything they’ve got at the fleeing creature.

A highlight comes when the alien takes over the voluptuous body of stripper Brenda Lee Van Buren (Claudia Christian of Babylon 5 fame).
