Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990)

Billy Peltzer (Zach Galligan) and his fiancée Kate Beringer (Phoebe Cates) have moved to New York after surviving the first nightmarish wave of gremlins. Both now work at a hi-tech skyscraper where unknown to them, their old friend Gizmo is under the influence of the evil Dr Catheter (Christopher Lee).

With Steven Spielberg’s influence seemingly absent, Joe Dante’s anarchic view of life is given full rein in this chaotic but cracking sequel.

As with the original, Dante bombards the screen with a never-ending stream of movie spoofs, slapstick violence and sly little treats for film buffs.

Stars Cates and Galligan are back again, but most of the laughs come from the supporting players: Christopher Lee, John Glover, Robert Prosky and Roger Corman veteran Dick Miller.
