This futuristic made-for-TV movie is set in a dystopian 1994.
Young couple Karen (Janet Margolin) and Alan Miller (Michael Cole from The Mod Squad) must flee the US for Canada when a Government edict threatens to take the life of their unborn baby as part of a plan to curb the growth of the population in a society where couples are limited to a single child, and citizens over the age of 65 are refused medical care or medication.
The Last Child was Van Heflin’s final acting performance. He died of a heart attack three months before the original broadcast.
