Dick Turpin – the most daring highwayman of them all – rides again in this story from Walt Disney of the man who terrorised the highways of England after being forced to turn his hand to crime following a small poaching incident on the property of ruthless Lord Calmsden (Roger Booth).
Unable to pay the fine imposed on him for poaching, Dick (David Weston) – a yeoman farmer – has his land and his horse confiscated. He steals back his horse and flees to London, where he takes part in a robbery.
Finding himself with a price on his head of 200 guineas – and involved with a band of beggars and thieves ready to turn traitor – Dick prepares to leave the country. Before he can do this, however, he is arrested and sentenced to the gallows.
With the aid of some friends who visit him in Newgate prison, he escapes and – still intending to leave for America – sets out to clear his name and settle his score with the ruthless Lord Calmsden.
