Bob Jenson (Ronald Howard) is in the middle of celebrating his engagement to wealthy young baronet Katherine Riddle (Carol Marsh in her final film) – daughter of Sir Thomas Riddle (Ian Fleming) – when he is accused of being a notorious jewel thief and murderer by insurance investigator Henry Curran (Stuart Saunders) who is a guest at the party.
Kathy doesn’t believe the accusation but gems are stolen from Sir Thomas’s safe that night and Curran is found murdered.
The evidence seems to point to her fiancé and Jenson is arrested by the police – but Kathy helps him escape from jail and he eventually unmasks Beckett (Robert Dorning), Sir Thomas’s solicitor, as the culprit.
The plot of this low-budget “quota quickie” from the legendary Danziger Brothers is contrived and not very well written, but it’s less than an hour long and is as distracting and entertaining as most good TV dramas.
It was aimed at the second-feature slot for cinemas and shot in 4:3 ratio rather than widescreen – probably with television in mind.
