Su-Muru (Shirley Eaton looking great) is a beautiful but evil woman who plans world domination by having her sexy all-female army eliminate male leaders and replace them with her army of skimpily-dressed female agents.
CIA agent Nick West (a worn-out-looking George Nader) and his playboy heir friend Tommy Carter (Frankie Avalon) travel from Rome to try to stop her.
Su has a torture chamber on her Hong Kong island, and victims are squeezed to death by a woman’s thighs, pistol whipped and “turned into a statue” with a stun gun.
The heroes joke about finding a topless dead woman in bed, and Nick makes out with a woman in a jail cell next to the body of a female prisoner she had just shot.
Maria Rohm (who was married to the producer) plays a blonde Su agent named Helga, who falls for Tommy. Klaus Kinski (dubbed by Robert Rietty) has a memorable brief role as a bisexual Asian president. Wilfrid Hyde-White plays Colonel Baisbrook.
Salli Sachse joins many Chinese in small roles.
The stuff of a 1930s serial, spoofed 1960s-style and combining feeble humour with an international cast of shapely starlets, this may be too rich a mix for some – though others have spotted a cult in the making.
Followed by a 1969 sequel known variously as The Girl from Rio, Rio 70 and Future Women.
