Su-Muru (Shirley Eaton) is a beautiful but evil woman who plans world domination by having her sexy all-female army eliminate male leaders and replace them with her female agents.
Producer and writer Harry Alan Towers, who made several films based on the exploits of Sax Rohmer’s Fu Manchu, also made two featuring Rohmer’s lesser-known female “evil genius” Sumuru.
The stuff of a 1930s serial, spoofed 1960s-style and combining feeble humour with an international cast of shapely starlets, this may be too rich a mix for some – though others have spotted a cult in the making.
Unusually, Towers regular Klaus Kinski plays a good guy.
Followed by a 1969 sequel known variously as The Girl from Rio, Rio 70 and Future Women.
