Henry Wrigley (Richard Hearne) is the author of a serial comic strip entitled Miss Robin Hood in a children’s magazine called The Teenager.
Discovering that the publication is to be reduced in size, he makes for a nearby bar but is waylaid by Miss Heather Honey (Margaret Rutherford), an elderly, big-hearted eccentric who is devoted to children.
She persuades him to turn in his job and involves him in the theft of a secret formula and £10,000 in cash from a distillery owned by MacAlister (James Robertson Justice), who has stolen her family’s recipe for a drinks additive.
The police trail Henry, but he induces Miss Honey to return the cash.
Meanwhile, a new scribe – Cyril Lidstone (Peter Jones) – writes the latest instalment of Miss Robin Hood, but his superior manner offends the young readers.
Led by Miss Honey, the kids storm the publishing house with the result that Henry is reinstated under improved conditions.
