Donald Lovelace (Barry Jackson), a humble elderly council gardener, has died and his funeral is taking place. But who are all these women at his funeral mourning his demise?
The supporting cast includes the excellent Maurice Denham, Carry On star Jacki Piper, Blackadder‘s Patsy Byrne, and Linda Marlowe.
Over the course of the film, we learn how this seemingly ordinary man had a profound effect on the people he came into contact with after trying an unlikely new career as a cinema projectionist.
Unlike many low budget British films, it isn’t drab or depressing but superbly made and acted and very uplifting. Barry Jackson is great as our unlikely Lothario, “Mr Love”.
Mr Love was shot in Southport on a budget of £400,000.
