Shy and unassuming planning engineer David Webb (Kenneth More) must negotiate an important loan for his company with wealthy industrialist Sir Godfrey Cowan (Roland Culver) while aboard the Queen Elizabeth en route to New York.
Despite his high IQ, his lack of confidence means he is completely out of his depth – at least until he discovers that his personality changes every night during the hour the ship’s clocks stop to make allowance for their westward passage.
Sid James is an absolute stand-out as the astute, no-nonsense cabin steward, Albert.
This was the last film written and directed by Henry Cornelius. He passed away in May 1958 before the film was released.
