In this comedy-adventure, Pauline (Pamela Austin) is an inmate of the Baskerville Foundling Home, run by Mrs Carruthers (Doris Packer).
Here she grows up alongside fellow-orphan George Stedman (Pat Boone) and when they are eventually forced to part, they swear undying love for each other and George promises to return for Pauline when he has become rich and famous.
Meanwhile, villainous Sten Martin (Terry-Thomas) has set his sights on Pauline and will do anything – no matter how preposterous – to get her.
She is also being pursued by ancient millionaire Caspar Coleman (Edward Everett Horton) who wants to have her cryogenically frozen until his one-year-old grandson is old enough to thaw her out and have her as his mate.
Pamela Austin is all blonde innocence as the put-upon orphan goes through a series of incredible adventures that would make Alice’s excursion to Wonderland seem predictable.
She is chased by a fiendish miniature Arabian prince who tries to feed her to sharks; falls into a drain and ends up in the Atlantic Ocean; is lost in space when a mean Russian cuts her lifeline; makes a “way out” movie with an Italian director and finally makes it with George who has rented Venice for their honeymoon.
Originally made as a pilot for a proposed TV series that didn’t sell, this farce is purely for those who find slapstick antics irresistible.
