Three American girls go on holiday to Madrid, each hoping to attract a suitable husband.
A rare example of a successful movie remade by the same director as the original, this is Jean Negulesco’s reworking of his own Three Coins in the Fountain (1954), this time set in Spain.
The cast is exemplary, with sexy Ann-Margret, Pamela Tiffin and Carol Lynley more than a match for their glossy 1950s predecessors, and there’s Gene Tierney on hand to remind movie fans that this is a 20th Century-Fox romance.
The novelty has worn a bit thin, and Fox’s standard “three girls out on the town” plot looks stale, but this fun film is still worth a look.
