This biting social/sexual satire was from the same team responsible for My Beautiful Laundrette (1986).
Sammy (Ayub Khan-Din) and Rosie (Frances Barber) are a hip and unconventional middle-class London married couple. They live in the midst of Thatcherite inner-city chaos, surround themselves with intellectual street people, and sleep with everybody – except each other.
Things become interesting when Sammy’s father, Rafi (Shashi Kapoor), who is a former Pakistani government minister, comes to London (where he lived as a youth) to retire.
Roland Gift from Fine Young Cannibals proves himself as good an actor as he was a singer.
