Warren Beatty produced and starred in this farce set on the eve of the 1968 election that brought Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew into office.
Harebrained coiffeur Beatty is shagged out trying to keep his fiancée Goldie Hawn happy while attending to all his clients’ needs.
He is also sick of working in Jay Robinson’s salons but unable to raise the cash he needs to set up on his own.
After sleeping with Jack Warden’s wife and daughter, he asks him for the money.
Jack is himself secretly stepping out with Warren’s ex, the moody, alcoholic Julie Christie, and agrees to think it over – but Warren makes the mistake of sleeping with Julie in front of both Jack and Goldie . . .
Hearing Jay’s son has been pulped to death, Warren is bummed out and re-evaluates his whole swinging existence, and asks Julie to come have babies with him; however, she has decided to run away with Jack and his money, leaving Warren as the loneliest hairdresser in LA.
Then Nixon gets voted in . . .
