This gentle British comedy from the Danziger brothers revolves around a group of young women who live at the Kensington Residential Club For Women – and are all anxious to find husbands.
Betty Tate (Ann Sears), a secretary for a small engineering firm, is secretly in love with her mild-mannered young boss, Bob Conley (Terence Alexander) but despite her dropping hints, he is too busy getting the firm on its feet to notice.
Betty’s uninhibited but naive beautiful blonde cousin Sally Powers (Sally Smith) arrives from a rural village to stay with Betty in London and to help with various office duties at Betty’s firm.
Sally is obsessed with a compulsion to meet a millionaire while she is in London but only succeeds in stealing the boyfriends of Betty’s friends.
When she finally turns her attention to Bob Conley, the girls hire an out-of-work actor (William Fox) to impersonate a millionaire tycoon called Sir Basil in order to lure Sally away from their men friends.
There is a gentle twist at the end of the film which leaves all parties satisfied.
