A psychological thriller about an overweight paranoid schizophrenic hospital lab technician (Victor Buono) with low self-esteem brought on by his dominant invalid mother, who becomes a serial killer of female nurses in New York City – following them home and garrotting them with their own stockings.
His fetish for dolls ultimately betrays him to the police as he is going to murder his 11th victim.
David Mclean co-stars as Lt Benson, the police officer assigned to the murder investigation.
The film is based on the so-called Boston Strangler, blamed for murdering 11 women in the Boston area from 1962 to 1965. At the time of making the film, the real case was still unsolved.
