The revenge of Rock, Pretty Baby (1956) as teenage heart-throb John Saxon stars as the moody Jimmy Daley, who – together with his bandmates, Mike (John Wilder) and Ox (Rod McKuen) – takes the Order of the Bisons up on their offer for his five-piece combo to play a two-week gig at a summer camp at Lake Tahoe.
Jimmy’s girlfriend Joan (Judi Meredith) is sad to see him leave, but Jimmy gives her a bus ticket and invites her to come visit.
The band are joined on stage by singer Alice Bronson (young recording star Molly Bee), while Mike cheers up at the sight of beautiful girls in the audience, especially local vamp, Erica Landis (Jill St. John in her cinema debut).
Jimmy’s parents (Edward Platt and Fay Wray) unexpectedly show up on vacation, bringing along kid sister Twinkie (Shelley Fabares), who’s just 14 but eager to begin meeting boys.
Joan also arrives, just in time to jealously witness Erica making a play for Jimmy. Equally envious is Mike, who is head over heels in love with Erica.
Ox falls for Alice and Twinkie gets a crush on a teenage horse trainer. Jimmy and Joan patch things up, and the Daleys return home from their summer adventure.
The lanky and engaging Rod McKuen stands out and the frog-voiced George Winslow, all of 11-years-old, gets laughs with his hoarse line delivery.
Musical highlights include Beatin’ On the Bongos, Ding-a-Long and To Know You Is To Love You.
