Marla English, Kathleen Hughes and Sara Shane play the three spoiled (and that’s a massive understatement) Craig sisters who live in a zany home on a cliff above the sea, called Devil’s Bridge.
The eldest sister, Lorna (Shane) is obsessed with throwing herself off the cliff when depressed – which occurs not seldom.
Middle sister Valeri (Hughes) shows a marked talent for taunting the others to the verge of suicide, and Vicki (English) the youngest and most beautiful, lies around with her feet in the air, telling everyone else to drop dead, when she’s not busy stealing men from other women.
The Craig sisters also have a penchant for flinging themselves into high-powered cars and hurling themselves to kingdom come when things get a bit rough.
As if this isn’t enough, there is a screwy drunken aunt (distinguished star of the silent screen, Madge Kennedy).
John Bromfield is Jim Norton, the pilot of the ill-fated plane in which the girls’ millionaire father Marshal Craig was killed when he went berserk and grabbed the controls. He comes to stay at the Craig house, falls for Lorna and makes protecting her from her vicious sisters his primary concern.
The subsequent intrigues, double-crosses, fistfights and the story’s climax amid the swirling sea below Devil’s Bridge make Three Bad Sisters a stream of cumulative titillation. It’s a low budget affair but tremendous fun.
The movie was filmed on the beautiful Bel Air Estates in Los Angeles, with the thrilling ocean scenes filmed at Corona Del Mar near Newport Beach.
