An English rock band called Billy Beethoven – featuring Kook (Graham Bonnet) on vocals and lead guitar; Gary (Paul Nicholas); Ricky (Christopher Neil) and Tom (Robert Lindsay) – embark on a tour of Spain.
Three members of the band have girlfriends – Diane (Adrienne Posta), Pet (Cheryl Hall) and Shelley (Lesley North) – who are excited about the trip . . . then disappointed to find they are not invited.
After the boys have left, the three determined girls decide to follow on and surprise their boyfriends, but things don’t go to plan and the girls have several mishaps along the way, having their passports and money stolen, being attacked by a misunderstanding shopkeeper and getting involved in a nightclub brawl.
The only real redeeming feature of the film is the plethora of lesser-known young actors involved who went on to become famous (including Richard Beckinsale) and singer Bonnet who would go on to solo success (and as the lead vocalist with Rainbow and MSG).
Other British notables in the cast include Diana Dors, Liz Fraser, John Le Mesurier, Hattie Jacques, Edward Woodward, David Kossoff, Dandy Nichols, Roy Kinnear, Ian Lavender and Arthur Mullard. The band Showaddywaddy also make an appearance.
