The escapades of a diminutive stock room employee of a large London store, his ambitions to become a window-dresser (the window dressing segment is a silent, slapstick masterpiece) and his capture of some crooks.
This was Norman Wisdom’s first starring role in a movie.
Supported by a stalwart cast of class British actors, with Lana Morris as the leading lady Sally, Norman overcomes all the trials of working in the Department Store and also triumphs over the bad guys and the naughty Miss Bacon (Margaret Rutherford) to win the hand of the girl he loves.
A successful formula which made Norman the hero of millions of fans both in Britain and overseas.
