In the quiet English village of Warlock, Louise Kingston (Hy Hazell) has turned her quaint cottage into the Willow Tree Tearooms.
The villagers can foresee nothing but scandal, however, as Louise is soon found in an innocent though compromising situation with the local council inspector, Bryan Maitland (Robert Urquhart) and the villagers jump to the conclusion that the tea room is, in fact, a brothel.
The arrival of Louise’s daughter Eve (Sally Smith) provides further opportunities for innocuous sexual jokes and double entendres – with lots of mentions of “crumpets” and “tarts”.
The low-budget comedy was based on the play Widows Are Dangerous by June Garland (it looks very stagey even on film) and directed by Francis Searle at Nettlefold Studios (later Walton Studios) in Walton on Thames, Surrey.
Released in some markets as In Trouble With Eve.
