Czechoslovakian beauty Olinka Berova is taken for the reincarnation of novelist H Rider Haggard’s Ayesha (as immortalised by Ursula Andress) in this mediocre sequel to She (1965).
Scripted by Peter O’Donnell, the creator of Modesty Blaise, and once again starring John Richardson as King Killikrates, the lover of “She Who Must Be Obeyed”, director Cliff Owen piles on the close-ups of Ms Berova in a Lost City fantasy adventure with reliable Hammer production values.
Somehow “Carol” (ie: Ayesha) has acquired mental powers since the first film, which she uses on a truck-driving would-be rapist.
It doesn’t amount to much, but there’s enough colourful exotica to paper over the sparse plot.
