The cult of wife swapping in London is shown in a series of six dramatised episodes portraying the various ways in which married couples become attracted to the pastime and its effect on their lives.
The pseudo-documentary begins with a blonde – dressed only in a PVC raincoat – being snatched from Westminister Bridge by muscle men in sunglasses who drive her to the countryside, undress her and order her to swim naked to a boat where an unknown horror awaits . . .
The film mainly focuses on Ellen (Valerie St. John) and Paul (James Donnelly), a bored couple who enlist the help of swingers Jean (Joan Hayward) and Leonard (Larry Taylor).
All the goings-on are accompanied by a babbling pseudo psychiatrist.
Largely forgotten today, The Wife Swappers was one of the most successful British films at the tail end of the Swinging Sixties and is something of a Brit-sleaze classic.
