An airman fouls up a mission and loses the lives of a lot of good men. He subsequently takes a job flying a desk, and this is ok with the rest of the squadron because they all figure he is chicken anyway.
But when the Big One comes along, the guy goes along for the ride. And when the pilot and the plane get all shot up, who brings it home, crippled but safe? The chicken pilot, that’s who.
No one can do much with that kind of storyline, but veteran director Allen Dwan takes a shot at it. And by golly, what do you know? The picture isn’t all that bad.
