This trio from Fullerton in Orange County, California, specialised in the unlikely combination of punk and surf music. Led by vocalist/guitarist Mike Palm, the band lost its original bass player Steve Soto (he left to form The Adolescents), picked up James Levesque and released its debut album (Living In Darkness) in 1981 amid the California hardcore craze.
A couple of EP’s followed, and finally the 1986 album, This Is The Voice – the best example of their twangy version of California surf-punk.
Brent Liles replaced James Levesque on bass in 1988 and Derek O’Brien replaced Scott Miller on drums in 1989. Sam Bolle replaced Brent Liles in January 1992 and remained with the band until May 2003 when he left to join (surf guitar legend) Dick Dale‘s band.
Agent Orange are still active, with Palm as the only remaining original member.
