Belle & The Devotions began as just singer Kit Rolfe, who released two singles – Where Did Love Go Wrong? and Got To Let You Know – under the name in 1983.
Laura James and Linda Sofeld were added in 1984 so the group could perform in the Eurovision Song Contest. They represented the United Kingdom with the Supremes-like Love Games.
The poor behaviour of rioting British football fans at a 1983 Luxembourg match meant that the trio were greeted with boos and jeers as they took the stage in Luxembourg. They finished in seventh place and the song reached #11 on the UK charts.
The group followed up with All The Way Up in July 1984 but the song failed to chart and the threesome split up soon after.
Kit Rolfe later recorded a novelty single with Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, Fly Eddie Fly.
