Garage punk band Crazyhead formed in 1986 in Leicester, England, and were almost immediately lumped in under the banner of ‘grebo rock’ by the music press.
The band signed to the independent record label, Food, and their debut single, What Gives You The Idea That You’re So Amazing, Baby?, reached #2 in the UK Indie Chart in March 1987.
For the rest of the year, they toured extensively supporting The Cult and Julian Cope. Their second single Baby Turpentine reached #4 in the Indie Chart.
Time Has Taken Its Toll on You (1988) reached # 65 in the UK Singles Chart and the band embarked on a UK tour to promote their debut album Desert Orchid (October 1988).
In 1989, they made two brief tours of the United States and appeared at the Reading Festival. At the behest of the British Council, they played an international music festival in Moscow.
The band were dropped by Food Records in 1989, and their second album Some Kind of Fever was released by Revolver Records.
Crazyhead made sporadic live appearances in the ‘90s. In 1997, they released Fucked By Rock, a collection of previously unreleased material, demo versions, and live tracks, and an EP of new material, 13th Floor.
Crazyhead called it a day in December 2000.
The band reformed in 2017 for a series of shows throughout the UK.
