London group The Gobbledegooks changed their name from The Seekers to avoid confusion with the Australian group of the same name who rocketed to fame in 1964.
The band – formed by singer Howard Davidson after a spell in local skiffle groups – had a track record of name issues, having originally called themselves The Pacemakers – a situation which also had to change when Gerry and the boys came on the scene.
The group toured Britain with Dusty Springfield, Herman’s Hermits and Brian Poole and The Tremeloes and released their only single, Where Have You Been? (written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil) b/w Now and Again, on Decca in 1964.
After touring France and Belgium in 1965, the group broke up
