Melbourne band Serious Young Insects emerged in 1980, combining XTC-like tunes with a Beatles aesthetic.
In 1981 they released their debut single, Trouble Understanding Words with indie label Native Tongue through Epic.
Highlights on their 1982 debut album (Housebreaking) included Be Patient (their next single), Parents Go Mental, I Want Cake and the title track.
A third single (Faraway Places) was released and the band began touring extensively around Australia, playing six nights a week.
Sadly, they only lasted two and a half years. Guitarist Peter Farnan ended up in bombastic Aussie rockers, Boom Crash Opera.
