Australian power pop band The Spliffs formed in the North Queensland town of Townsville in 1985.
Their debut single, You Know What They’ll Say, was released in 1986 and the band relocated to Sydney (NSW) in December of that year, sharing a terraced house together in the inner-city suburb of Surry Hills.
The group developed a strong following – gaining exposure via many support gigs for bands such as The Cockroaches, Allniters, The Church and The Stems – and issued a seven-track EP, House of Seven, in 1987.
The Spliffs called it a day in 1988 after a van crash destroyed all their equipment.
